This pamphlet explains what fascism is, how it persists today, and what we can do to stop it.

We can learn the lessons of history. Looking at how the Nazis gained power in Germany and how fascists defeated workers' power in Spain helps us to understand how we can avoid repeating what have been some of the darkest episodes in human history.
There are positive lessons, too. In Britain the Nazi BNP and National Front have been successfully beaten back time and again. This has been done through mass united action among students and workers, black and whitetaking a stance against the fascists and acting to defeat them.

Today fascists are in government in Italy and Austria. Elsewhere they are seeking to gain respectability.

We want to make sure that Nazis, who feed off the scapegoating of asylum seekers and other minorities, are successfully stopped in their tracks. To do this we need also to tackle the system which breeds economic insecurity. We need to understand how fascism is a symptom of the way capitalism relentlessly fuels racism and oppression.
